Also known as University of Tennessee / Tennessee State University Extension is a vital community resource located in Jasper. It serves as the local outreach arm of the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture in partnership with Tennessee State University
The office delivers research-based educational programs across four main areas:
- Agriculture & Natural Resources (soil testing, Master Beef Producer, Master Gardener, pesticide certification, livestock programs, and environmental stewardship)
- Family & Consumer Sciences (nutrition, health, financial literacy, food preservation, parenting/co-parenting education, and wellness programs like Yoga for Kids)
- 4-H Youth Development (hands-on clubs, projects, camps, and leadership opportunities for youth in grades 4–12, emphasizing “learning by doing”)
- Community resource development.
Key Highlights:
- Free or low-cost workshops, classes, soil testing, and technical assistance for farmers, gardeners, families, and youth.
- Strong focus on local needs, including livestock, gardening, Master Gardener training, and youth camps (e.g., Bird Nerds camp).
