1. What Personal Data We Collect – As a local business directory for Marion County, Tennessee, we may collect:
- Account Information: Username, email address, password (hashed), and profile details for registered users.
- Business Listings: Information you submit when adding or claiming a business (e.g., business name, contact details, description, location).
- Reviews and Comments: Content you post, along with associated metadata (e.g., date, IP address for spam detection).
- Contact and Communication Data: Emails or form submissions sent to us.
- Technical Data: IP address, browser information, and cookies (as described in our Privacy Policy).
We do not sell personal data.
2. Your Right to Request Deletion (Right to Erasure) – You have the right to request that we delete or remove your personal data when one of the following applies:
- The data is no longer necessary for the purpose(s) for which we collected it.
- You withdraw your consent (where processing is based on consent).

- Description of the data you want deleted (e.g., account, specific listing, reviews).
- Any supporting information to verify your identity.
We may ask for additional verification (e.g., proof of identity) to protect against unauthorized requests. We will acknowledge your request within 10 business days and respond fully within 30 days (or up to 45 days if legally extended, with notification).You can also manage much of your data directly:
- Log into your account to edit or delete your profile information, listings, or comments (where available).
- Contact us for assistance with items you cannot delete yourself.
4. When We May Refuse or Limit Deletion – We may retain certain data if deletion would:
- Violate legal obligations (e.g., tax, accounting, or fraud prevention records).
- Affect public interest, legal claims, or freedom of expression (e.g., certain reviews or directory listings visible to the public).
- Compromise the security or integrity of our systems.
- Prevent us from fulfilling contractual obligations with you or third parties (e.g., a claimed business listing that affects others).
In such cases, we will explain the reason and, where possible, delete only the portions we can. Public content such as reviews, comments, or business listings you made public may remain visible in caches, search engines, or archives even after deletion from our site. We will take reasonable steps to remove them from our active systems but cannot control third-party copies.
5. What Happens After Deletion
- We will securely delete or anonymize your personal data.
- Some anonymized data (e.g., aggregated statistics) may be retained for analytics.
- We will notify you once the deletion is complete (or if any data is retained with explanation).
6. Data Retention Overview– We retain data only as long as necessary:
- Account Data: While your account is active, plus a reasonable period afterward for legal or security purposes.
- Comments/Reviews: Indefinitely (unless deleted by you or us) to maintain site integrity.
- Technical Logs: For a limited time for security and spam prevention.
