Rolling Oak Distillery
A family-owned craft distillery nestled in the scenic hills near Graysville/Dunlap in Tennessee’s Sequatchie Valley. It proudly stands as the first and only legal distillery in Sequatchie County, reviving authentic Appalachian moonshine traditions with a modern touch.
It’s a labor of love that honors the region’s moonshine history while supporting local farmers and the community. Whether you’re a spirits enthusiast, history buff, or just passing through the Sequatchie Valley Scenic Byway, Rolling Oak offers an authentic taste of the Cumberland Plateau’s heritage.
What Makes It Special:
- Heritage & Craftsmanship — Founded by Travis Faucett (a 4th/5th-generation moonshiner), it uses 160-year-old family recipes, secret distilling techniques, heirloom grains (like sweet local corn), and pure Sequatchie Valley spring water. No artificial colors or flavors—everything stays true to old-school methods. Travis even builds his own stills.
- Signature Spirits — Known for Misty Mountain Moonshine (in various proofs and flavors—perfect as “porch sippers” over ice), Tennessee Straight Rye, American bourbon, and more. Expect smooth, high-quality small-batch liquors with a silky finish. Tastings and education on the process are part of the visit.
- Experience — Located at 324 Whiskey Lane, Dunlap (with ties to addresses like Lewis Chapel Rd/Graysville area), the distillery sits in a quaint holler that feels like stepping back in time. Visitors enjoy tastings, a general store with local goods (honey, baked goods, Lodge Cast Iron, etc.), and a warm, immersive atmosphere. Pizza is sometimes available on weekends. Open Mon–Sat from 11 AM. (yelp.com)
