A serene Serbian Orthodox monastic community nestled on a historic 15-acre property in the scenic mountains of Monteagle, Tennessee.

Joy of All Who Sorrow Monastery is a beautiful Serbian Orthodox monastic community dedicated to prayer, hospitality, and the ancient Christian faith amid the Cumberland Plateau’s mountains. A growing sanctuary of spiritual renewal in the heart of Tennessee. It welcomes visitors, retreatants, and pilgrims while focusing on monastic life, evangelism, and outreach (including Bible studies at nearby University of the South in Sewanee).

Worship & Activities:

  • Sundays: Divine Liturgy at 10:00 AM, Vespers at 5:00 PM
  • Monday–Saturday: Matins at 7:00 AM, Vespers at 5:00 PM
  • Special services for feast days (e.g., patronal feast around November 6). Times may vary; contact ahead for meals or stays.
  • Leadership: Hieromonk Mark (abbot) and supporting brotherhood.
  • Features: Ongoing construction of chapel, hermitage, guest facilities, bookstore/coffee shop elements, and a peaceful setting ideal for prayer and reflection. Pan-Orthodox welcome with traditional Byzantine and Slavonic liturgical traditions.
