Bo’s Buddies
Officially referred to as Animal Protective Services of Marion, Inc.) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Jasper, TN, dedicated to improving animal welfare in Marion County.
Mission and VisionBo’s Buddies works to bridge critical gaps in animal protective services by raising funds to establish a dedicated animal shelter. This facility will support local law enforcement in responding to cases of neglect, cruelty, and abandoned animals, while promoting humane treatment in line with Tennessee state laws.
The organization was founded by compassionate local advocates, including President/Founder Michelle Story, who was inspired by a tragic incident involving a family dog. The name “Bo’s Buddies” honors loyal animal companions (“Bo” symbolizing trust, companionship, and a “beautiful outlook” or second chance at life). The board includes dedicated professionals like attorneys, educators, veterinarians, and community leaders with deep roots in Marion County.
Key goals include:
- Building a shelter for housing animals in need and aiding law enforcement.
- Educating the community on responsible pet ownership, spay/neuter practices, and animal care.
- Collaborating with local organizations for medical care, adoptions, and prevention of cruelty.
- Assisting pet and livestock owners with resources for proper care.
