Sequatchie Cove Creamery dreams up original artisan cheeses. We work with local farmers and happy cows to turn beautiful grass into a shareable slice of the Sequatchie Valley.
Since 2010, founders Nathan and Padgett Arnold have crafted exceptional farmstead and regionally sourced cheeses using traditional methods inspired by the Savoie region of France, while capturing the unique terroir of the Sequatchie Valley and Cumberland Plateau. They work with local farmers and grass-fed cows to transform high-quality milk into distinctive, handcrafted cheeses—powered sustainably and rooted in regenerative practices.
Popular varieties include:
- Cumberland — A natural-rind Tomme-style cheese with earthy, nutty notes and creamy finish.
- Shakerag Blue — An award-winning blue wrapped in fig leaves soaked in Chattanooga Whiskey.
- Walden — A supple, silky washed-rind cheese with flavors of mushrooms, walnuts, and cultured butter.
- Others like Coppinger (washed-rind with vegetable ash) and past favorites such as the beloved Dancing Fern.
The creamery emphasizes approachable yet refined cheeses perfect for picnics, sharing, or elevating any cheese board. Their products are available nationwide at specialty shops, retailers, and online, even though the creamery itself is tucked away on a forested mountainside surrounded by waterfalls, springs, and caves.
