Lunch Sewanee
LUNCH in Sewanee
A charming market, bakery, and lunch counter celebrating local ingredients, seasonality, and community in the heart of the Cumberland Plateau.
Located at 24 University Avenue in a historic 1930s building, this welcoming spot (run by Chef-Owner Mallory Grimm Tubbs and her husband Trapp) blends country-store warmth with thoughtful, farm-driven fare. It’s become a favorite gathering place for Sewanee locals, University of the South folks, and visitors seeking fresh, honest food. (guide.michelin)
LUNCH focuses on local ingredients, with an emphasis on seasonality, togetherness, and community. The lunch counter features a rotating menu based on what’s being harvested by our farmers at that time. Alongside fresh baked goods, coffee, snacks, and craft beers, we also have dry goods, a small selection of wine & picnic provisions, and LUNCH made treats in our market. Almost everything on our menu is grown locally in Sewanee and around the Cumberland Plateau.
What to expect:
- Rotating seasonal menu — Plate lunches, sandwiches (like steak on house-made baguette with Gruyère and chimichurri), huevos rancheros, fresh salads, and daily specials highlighting ingredients from local farms.
- Fresh baked goods & pastries — Muffins, cakes (such as zucchini cake with buttermilk glaze), breads, and other treats made in-house.
- Market provisions — Locally sourced meats, prepared foods, baked goods, jams, honey, dry goods, and more for takeaway.
- Community focus — Monthly events, coffee, and a cozy space perfect for lingering or grabbing a quick bite.
Hours: Wednesday – Saturday, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM (subject to change — check ahead). They also host after-hour events and offer catering.
Whether you’re stopping in for a hearty lunch, a flaky pastry with coffee, or market staples, LUNCH delivers quality and connection in a relaxed, authentic setting.
